Shake Day

Today my class had our earthquake drill.

First, we dropped to the floor. Second, we covered our heads and necks. Third, we held onto something and waited for the earthquake to stop. Fourth, we looked to see what was surrounding us. Fifth, we carefully walked outside to find a safe place.

What To Do In An Earthquake

Before The Earthquake

There are several steps when you are planning for the earthquake.
Create an emergency plan: you will need emergency phone numbers, a survival kit including a torch  a some plasters and a pocket knife, and tell your family where to meet if they are separated.   .

During The Earthquake

Step one: drop to the floor.

Step two: find somewhere safe like a bed or table.

Step three: stay there until the earthquake is over.  
Step four: keep away from tall furniture.

Step five: do not use elevators. because they will waste power.

Step six: listen to the radio before moving, use a transistor radio.

When Outside

 
Step seven: keep clear of power lines.

Step eight: do not stand by a tall building because the building might fall.

Step nine: do not stand under shelter because the shelter might collapse.

After The Earthquake

Step ten: when the earthquake is over, be alert for
aftershocks.

Step eleven: check for injuries.

Step twelve: do not use the phone because the ambulances need power.

Step thirteen: turn off the electricity because the electric wires might catch fire.

The Pirates Destroy Our Ship

  

One day, two young explorers, Hayden and Dre, were going around the blue wavey ocean in their brown wooden dinghy until they saw the mighty pirate galleon of the Seven Seas. They discovered that the pirates had brown Bazookas.
Dre said, “They really are the mighty pirates of the Seven Seas”.
The pirates took aim and a pointy bullet hit Dre's boney wrist.
Dre’s wrist got severely injured. He shouted, “Save me’’.
Hayden and Dre swam to shore and found a man called Jackson. He took the bullet out and stitched Dre’s injured wrist.
The pirates never attacked Hayden and Dre again because they were too busy fighting other pirates. 

The Wizard of Oz

Tomorrow is our production, The Wizard of Oz. When I started training, I was nervous, but now I don't feel nervous at all because I have practised a lot. I am a Tinman dancer and I have to dance with a girl. I don't like that much. My favourite part of the show is the Winkee part because I like it when the Winkees march. The way they march together looks cool because they march in lines and they go in-between each other's gaps.

New Zealand's Olympic Legends

The Kiwi Crew

During the Olympics, Room 4 watched a rowing video about Nathan Cohen and Joseph Sullivan in our classroom because the Olympics were on. 

Mrs T started the video. People were cheering for the people in the colourful canoes. The Italian crew and the British crew were racing ahead. Close behind them was New Zealand.

It came down to the last part of the race. New Zealand was pulling ahead.

New Zealand won the gold medal. Italy got a hard fought second.
